All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

Event description

The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
Free virtual NICU support program for families
Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

EVENT DETAILS

The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction is a high profile event that pays tribute to the culinary excellence of prominent chefs and caterers while raising significant revenue to help give every baby a healthy start. Local chefs and caterers present their signature dish in tasting-size portions during a cocktail reception and silent auction enjoyed by more than 400 guests. A live auction follows with packages that may include unique dinners, hotel stays and weekend getaways, as well as a Fund the Mission segment where the mission of the March of Dimes is highlighted.

After months of hard work, these volunteers have taken the event to new heights. The March of Dimes and the families we support are grateful for the generosity and effort of the team that made this evening possible.

SUPPORT THE MISSION

Every day of our lives we are reminded of little miracles given by having a chance at life. The McCallister family was fortunate to have hope in celebrating the same miracle for their daughter. After enduring a tough battle of 116 days in the Novant Hemby Children’s Hospital NICU, baby Stella was gifted health, happiness, and life. The McCallister family is delighted to share the success story of how their little miracle Stella made their family complete.

Stella McCallister began battling her chance at week 24 of pregnancy development. Due to her mother, Jenn, being hospitalized for a week with complications of high blood pressure, liver concerns and preeclampsia. Stella was monitored by doctors and her family was advised to have an emergency c-section. A few weeks following, the mother’s condition worsened and little miss Stella Grace was delivered, prematurely at 27.5 weeks, 1lb. 11oz. After delivery, Stella was rushed to the NICU where the medical team diagnosed her lungs were significantly underdeveloped. In order to help her gain strength and health, she was placed on a ventilator and oscillator with only a few days to improve, putting fear in the hearts of the entire McCallister family of losing their new little one.

At last on June 9, 2014, Stella was discharged from the NICU able to go home and start her new healthy life with her family. The immense support from the March of Dimes and those working in the NICU touched the lives of the McCallister family, making the life threatening case of Stella seem hopeful for a better tomorrow. Stella is truly a living miracle.
