SUPPORT THE MISSION
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. Our mission is to give every baby a fighting chance at life. The March of Dimes was founded in 1938 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to end polio in the United States and it succeeded. Babies born today continue to receive the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines. Today, the March of Dimes is committed to reducing the United States rate of premature birth from 12 to 9.6 percent by 2020. We also work with global partners to improve care for the nearly 15 million babies born too soon each year worldwide and prevent the deaths of one million of these babies. Events like the Signature Chefs Auction help the March of Dimes move toward their goal. An evening of dining, laughter and community come together to help raise funds, and awareness of premature birth and infant mortality. If you are interested in learning more about how you can become involved in this event, please contact Scarlett Moore for more information – and remember it is all about our babies!
EVENT LEADERSHIP
This year's co-chairs are Drs. Anita and Randy Henderson. Dr. Anita Henderson graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in biochemistry. She completed medical school at the University of Mississippi medical center and trained in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University. She has practiced pediatrics at the Pediatric Clinic which is a division of Hattiesburg Clinic for the last 19 years. She is on staff at Forest General Hospital and is former chairman of the department of pediatrics. Dr. Randy Henderson graduated from the University of Virginia medical school and trained in pediatrics and neonatology at Vanderbilt University. He has been on staff at Forest General Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Gulfport for the last 19 years. He is currently the president of the Mississippi chapter of The American Academy of Pediatrics. Because of their clinical practice in pediatrics the Henderson’s are concerned about the welfare of children in Mississippi and support the mission of the March of Dimes. They have two children, Rand, a sophomore at Mississippi State University and Sadie, a senior at Presbyterian Christian School. We are proud to have such esteemed leadership for this year's Signature Chefs Event.
