FUND THE MISSION

All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

Event description

The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

Support the mission

MEET OUR AMBASSADORS - SARAH AND & KATE ROSSE

We always knew that we wanted to have children and started trying soon after we were married. The journey to conceive our first child was a difficult and frustrating time. We thought that we would experience the same journey to conceive our next child, But to our surprise we became pregnant shortly after trying and with twins! I experienced a very difficult pregnancy with extreme morning sickness, constant pain, bleeding and contractions beginning at 25 weeks. I had constant appointments with the Dr and the high risk OB and two trips to the hospital with contractions, I was considered a high risk pregnancy. I was placed on modified bed rest early on to prevent preterm labor. My water broke at 32 weeks and 5 days, I was admitted to the hospital and was told that they were going to try and keep the twins in as long as possible to get their lungs developed. I was started on steroid injections and a magnesium drip. Labor was still progressing despite their best efforts, we were informed that I would be having a C-section within an hour. This was the scariest time because we had no idea what was going to happen with the twins, we knew that they would have to spend time in the NICU because of how early they were born. Our fraternal twin girls were born June 11th 2016, Sarah was born at 9:40am weighing 4lb 5oz and Kate was born at 9:41am weighing 4lb 1.5oz. This began our NIC journey, nothing had prepared us for what would happen next. The girls were quickly whisked away with the nurses and doctors, It was hours before I would even be able to see the girls or know how they were doing. The girls spent exactly one month in the NICU. Kate had required oxygen through a nasal cannula for the first 24 hours. The girls both spent one week doing light therapy for jaundice. At 34 weeks we were able to begin bottle feeding. It always seemed that the girls would make huge progress then take 2 steps backwards. The one month in the NICU was a very trying time for the entire family, we were having to split our time between the hospital and home. Matt had to return to work when the girls were one week old. After 3 weeks our help during the day with our daughter had come to an end. I was having to drive every morning to take breast milk for the girls and bring our 22 month daughter with us. We were always having to leave a child behind and decide who needed us more. This took a huge toll on our family-mentally, physically and financially. After 4 weeks I began the fight to bring the girls home and to have the feeding tube to be removed, it seemed that no one wanted to listen and finally my concerns had been heard and we were able to have the feeding tubes removed and the girls did great, after that they took their entire feeding every time. Now our girls are happy and healthy 2 months old. Big sister Emma is so happy to have her babies home.
