FUND THE MISSION

All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

Event description

The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

Support the mission

Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide, and 1 million will die before their first birthday. Your gift helps the March of Dimes fund research, education, advocacy and programs that help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.

Our event features food and wine pairings from approximately 15-20 chefs and restaurants around the Central Indiana area, a silent auction, a live auction and exciting entertainment.

EVENT LEADERSHIP

Thanks to the leadership of our volunteer chairs, Drs. Jeffrey and Leigh Meltzer from IU North Hospital and committee members, we are honored to present this Signature Chefs event. After months of hard work, these volunteers have taken the event to new heights. The March of Dimes and the families we support are grateful for the generosity and effort of the team that made this evening possible.

Our Ambassador Family - The Jenneys

After almost two years of marriage, Jeff and I decided we were ready to start a family of our own. We were so thrilled to find out our 1st child’s due date was on our 3rd wedding anniversary! You can understand the shock that ensued when I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks. Ethan was born at 32 weeks gestation weighing 3 lbs. 10 oz.  He fought his way through the 5.5 week stay in the Special Care Unit without any major complications. Today, we are the proud parents of a very energetic and thriving 7-year old.

Two years later we were expecting our second son Eli. We did all the right things for a healthy pregnancy and had frequent visits with the High Risk OBGYN group, including a visit to the high risk doctor on the same day we went into pre-term labor. Despite close physician follow up, I went into preterm labor with Eli at 25 weeks. He was born at 26 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 lb. 10 oz. At 1 month of age, he developed very aggressive Necrotizing Enterocolitis and passed away due to this devastating complication. Our hearts were shattered. In the midst of grief, we decided to find something positive to focus on to honor his brief but precious time with us. That is when we formed a ‘March for Babies’ team in his honor in an effort to raise awareness about prematurity, and at the same time raising funds for the March of Dimes organization. We have continued volunteering for and participating with the March of Dimes since then to help give ALL babies a fighting chance.

We now have a third son, Justin, who is two years old. We feel that I was able to carry him full term due to medication I was able to take during the pregnancy. This medication was found only due to the research efforts the March of Dimes has been able to do.

We are excited to represent the Central Indiana March of Dimes. The endless work, support and research of the March of Dimes are essential to help give every baby a fighting chance and a future for a long healthy life. ~ The Jenneys
