Still want to help us? FUND THE MISSION
All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.
The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.
We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!
We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:
Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide, and 1 million will die before their first birthday. Your gift helps the March of Dimes fund research, education, advocacy and programs that help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.
Join us as 35-40 of Cleveland's finest chefs serve their signature dishes while guests bid on live and silent auction items to benefit the fight against premature birth and infant mortality. We're excited to announce several new restaurants this year including The Urban Farmer, Executive Chef Vishwatej Nath in the refined luxury of the Westin Cleveland Downtown, Hospitality Restaurants, and more. We'll see you on November 6th when you can sample a dish from each of these amazing Cleveland chefs!
Chairs Mr.& Mrs. Douglas Orr and Jan Henry (not in photo) Signature Chefs event chairs as we celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Cleveland Signature Chefs Auction. Thanks to their leadership and our committees we are honored to present the Signature Chefs event. Through months of support these volunteers have taken the event to new heights. The March of Dimes and the families we support are grateful for the generous team who has made this evening possible.
At 19 weeks, I went in for what we expected would be a normal ultrasound check up. Instead, we met with a tearful doctor telling us I was in silent labor. We were able to delay my labor with an emergency procedure, followed by strict bedrest. During the next few weeks, I only left my bed for routine visits with my doctor to ensure baby Holly was healthy and growing. Just five weeks later, at 24 weeks, I experienced a new, life-threatening complication, and Holly had to be delivered by emergency C-section right away. She was only 11” long and weighed 1 lb., 5 oz. The nurses told me she let out a little cry before being rushed to the NICU. When we asked our doctor what Holly’s chances were, she just replied, “Slim.”. While in the NICU, Holly was so fragile. She would have okay days and terrible days. She was constantly sedated, undergoing so many tests and procedures. She had tubes placed in her tiny chest to help her lungs, and she was switched from one ventilator to the next to keep a stable oxygen level in her blood. She was also fighting a heart murmur and MRSA infections. Finally, Holly started making headway. She gained weight and was taken off some of her medications. I was finally able to hold my little girl with skin-to-skin contact. After a long and emotional 138 days in the NICU, we were able to bring Holly home! She continued to progress so well at home. She knew this was where she was supposed to be. Now a year later, the fight and spark Holly showed as a tiny, one-pound baby is just as evident in a 21-pound toddler! She enjoys playing with her dogs, learning to walk and climbing on everything.
