FUND THE MISSION

All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

Fund The Mission

Nearly half a million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely or with birth defects each year.  Premature birth and its complications are the largest contributors to infant death in the United States and globally.  Fund the Mission gifts are 100% tax deductible and direct contributions to help the March of Dimes advocate for policies that prioritize the health of moms and babies, fund scientific research at our Prematurity Research Centers, and provide resources and programs to help moms before, during and after pregnancy.  During the program there will be an opportunity to make a Fund The Mission donation. Please join March of Dimes in the fight for healthy moms and strong babies.

MEET OUR 2019 AMBASSADOR FAMILY

LACEE GRIFFITH & SCOTT ABRAHAM

In spring of 2017, we found out we were pregnant with a little girl and were so excited. That fall, on October 25, my water broke on air just as I was about to deliver the morning traffic report.  My heart sunk- I was only 31-weeks along. We were nowhere near our 36-week goal. When I arrived at Sinai hospital, there was some bleeding, but the sonogram showed that our baby looked good and weighed about 4 pounds. At 2:10 a.m. we met Journey Monroe. When I heard her cry, I was elated knowing her lungs could’ve still been developing at that point.  But Journey was a tiny fighter, alive with the help of a little oxygen and a feeding tube. The NICU was foreign and scary to us- the beeping of the machines made my heart race. Thirty days later, on Black Friday, we were able to take Journey home. We had SO much to be thankful for that Thanksgiving- it’s one we will never forget. No one ever expects to have a premature baby- but then I did. March of Dimes is not just an organization, it’s a community and a family. Hearing everyone else’s stories as I was waiting to take my baby home from the NICU helped me get through the lowest lows. Knowing how deadly prematurity is, we need organizations to fight for these little babies. My husband and I have been looking for “our” cause. We know March of Dimes is it.

Join Lacee and Scott as they support the March of Dimes in honor of Journey's upcoming birthday on October 26!

MEET OUR EMCEE, THEO HAYES OF WBAL-TV 11

Theo Hayes anchors the Live Desk on 11 News Today weekday mornings and 11 News at Noon weekdays. She joined WBAL-TV 11 News in October 2017 as a weekend morning anchor and reporter and brings with her 15 years of experience as a journalist.

Before moving to Baltimore, Theo was the morning anchor and reporter at WMBF News in Myrtle Beach for five years. Theo truly enjoys working as a journalist. She likes to tell people's stories and give a voice to the voiceless.

Theo grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Outside of her love for journalism, Theo loves to travel. As a child, she lived in Okinawa, Japan, and has since traveled to about a dozen other countries. She has no qualms about back packing in remote locations and hopes to do more traveling in the future.

Theo is the mother of one, and when she's not busy with her daughter, you can catch her trying out new restaurants or at the gym where she loves to box!
