Fund the Mission

All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

Event description

The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

Support the mission

Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide, and 1 million will die before their first birthday. Your gift helps the March of Dimes fund research, education, advocacy and programs that help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.

EVENT DETAILS

Join us for the 2019 March of Dimes Signature Chefs, a benefit for babies, an event to raise funds for the campaign to end prematurity. The event is a culinary showcase, featuring Amarillo’s top culinary masters. This rare opportunity is made possible by participating chefs graciously donating their time and talent to create a food experience beyond any available at a single location in Amarillo. Each tasting is thoughtfully created to tantalize the palette of even the savviest “foodie” and highlight the chef’s unique and exceptional talents. Amidst a lively party atmosphere and exciting entertainment, guests will enjoy exquisite cuisine, spirited cocktails and enticing raffle and auction packages.

Do you want to volunteer?

March of Dimes will require 30-35 volunteers to help with the event activities. Volunteers may be needed in other areas depending on event dynamics. Volunteers should be at least 21 years of age and should understand that they will need to be available, sober and dedicated for the entire duration of the event night activity in which they will be assigned to. March of Dimes will train and manage volunteers before the event. Training time will depend on the activity a volunteer is assigned to. March of Dimes will only conduct one training session so it is vital that all volunteers are prompt and on time. Volunteers should understand that their participation and commitment are critical to the success of the event. Volunteers that neglect or abandon their responsibilities will have a direct negative effect on the entire event and the revenue generated.

Volunteers should arrive at 5:00 pm. Training will begin at 5:15 pm. The evening is expected to conclude around 11:00 pm.
Upon arrival, volunteers should go to the Volunteer check in table at the entrance.

2019 Mission Family
Jacob, Jamie, Luke, & Bennett Williams

During a routine ultrasound at just 19 weeks, Jamie found out she was in labor.  She spent the next 6 weeks in bed hoping to hit 24 weeks for viability.  Luke was born at 25 weeks weighing 1 lb  12 oz.  He spent a total of 96 days in the NICU before he was healthy enough to go home.  The Williams family went on to have another son also born premature.  Bennett was born at 32 weeks and weighed 4 lbs.

1 in 8 babies in Amarillo will be born premature. Prematurity is one of the most significant health threats to moms and babies today, it is the leading cause of death amongst newborns, and the leading cause of lasting childhood disabilities. Preventing premature birth in Amarillo could mean an annual savings of $149 million in health and societal costs. The March of Dimes is committed to finding the cause and prevention of preterm birth.  You can help fight premature birth by making a 100% tax deductible donation at the event or click here to make your donation today.

In 2019 we will present the inaugural Charlotte Price “sunshine” NICU nurse and March of Dimes Volunteer Excellence Award.  Charlotte’s mother, Stephanie, will serve on the 2019 committee and she and her husband Joseph will accept the inaugural “sunshine” volunteer award the evening of the event. We will also honor a NICU nurse from each hospital the evening of the event.
We will present these awards each year at the Signature Chefs Auction in loving memory of Charlotte Price, her brave battle and her incredible spirit.

CULINARY EXCELLENCE

Signature Chefs events feature local culinary talent who create a selection of fine cuisine for an exclusive audience. Our chefs are artists, innovators and philanthropists, and we look forward to sharing their talents at the event.
