All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

Event description

The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

Support the mission

Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide, and 1 million will die before their first birthday. Your gift helps the March of Dimes fund research, education, advocacy and programs that help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.

SUNSHINE FOR CHARLOTTE 5K RUN

Join us to virtually run/walk with us on Sunday, October 25th through Friday, November 6th in loving memory of Charlotte. This run/walk will benefit March of Dimes West Texas and help in the fight against prematurity and infant mortality.

Charlotte Leighann Price was born 10/25/16 at 28w and 6days due to preeclampsia. On the second day of her life, the BSA NICU discovered she had transposition of the great arteries, a congenital heart defect (CHD). That mixed with severe prematurity made her a candidate to head to a special hospital. We were immediately flown to Cook Children's hospital in Fort Worth on 10/26. Charlotte was taken great care of and started making minor improvements, but it was so hard on her. We got to feed her milk, sing to her, read to her and do her cares every 4 hours. We slept in her room and used the Ronald McDonald House FW for showers and laundry. We thought against odds she might survive as her lungs were great and her brain. (She even managed to cry around the breathing tube, so we got to hear that lovely sound of her voice.)
But due to the CHD, her kidneys never formed correctly, and she went into kidney failure. They tried to combat the symptoms but also on the 11th day, her feeding tube punctured her stomach and it was all just too much for her to overcome. So, we made that gut wrenching, terrible decision to take her off life support and hold her so she didn't die in pain and alone. Charlotte passed in our arms on 11/6/16 at 10:23 at night.

She was our first and only child, much wanted and much loved. We miss her fiercely. She was our sunshine, and our princess. We do things to honor her like donating to various philithropic organizations in Amarillo and Fort Worth. We would liek to thank the nurses of BSA NICU and Cook Children's for giving us those precious 12 days with our Charlotte. We are also grateful for family, friends and other loss parent's love and support. Please help us raise funds for March of Dimes to combat infant mortality.

2020 Mission Family
Landon, Lauren and Quaid Shaw

We are excited to be the 2020 March of Dimes Special Events Ambassador Family.  Our son Quaid was born September 24, 2018 weighing 4 pounds 12 ounces with a birth defect called Gastroschisis.  He underwent two surgeries and spent 32 days in the NICU.  We know first hand how difficult the days in the NICU are, so we are asking for your help with a new project that March of Dimes is doing this year called BUNDLE OF JOY CAMPAIGN for NICU Families.
Bundles of Joy will raise critical funds for the March of Dimes mission and enable us to support immediate needs in our community.   Due to COVID-19 visitor restrictions, many families don’t have the resources to connect virtually with their loved ones during a maternity or antepartum hospital stay or with babies in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
Join us to fund the mission and provide bundles of joy by committing to make a personal investment.  Invite others to participate and challenge them to match your personal investment to help Amarillo raise $30,000 to drive the March of Dimes mission forward and support the March of Dimes.
$100 Gift – each NICU graduate will receive a Halo ® Sleep Sack.
$1,000 Gift – a Lenovo tablet preloaded with numerous resources and the March of Dimes My NICU Baby app for families to have 24/7 access of information during their stay and when they graduate, a Halo ® Sleep Sack.

Together with your gift, we can help families stay connected and provide comfort to those who need us most.

2020 CHAIRS
Stephanie Price, Lisa Orosco, and Jamie Williams

Stephanie, the 2019 March of Dimes Sunshine for Charlotte Volunteer of the Year is an avid MOD supporter, along with her husband Joseph, in memory of their daughter, Charlotte Leighann. She works hard so hopefully someday no family will experience losing their baby.  For her day job, Stephanie is the Marketing Director at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. She was named Member of the Year for the American Advertising Federation of Amarillo in 2014, Amarillo Chamber’s Top 20 under 40 in 2015, the 2018 Rising Star for the State of Texas by the Texas Travel Industry Association and 2019 Member of the Year for the American Advertising Federation 10th District.

LISA OROSCO
Lisa is happily married to her wonderful husband Nick. They have 3 beautiful daughters Sydney, Caitlin and Morgan. Her family owns a local business that has been in business since 1927. Her passion to give back to the community through volunteering started with the March of Dimes in 2003-2004. She has volunteered on numerous committees over the years including PTA, Junior League of Amarillo, Our Colors Run Together, Cattle Barton’s Ball, Make A Wish’s Burgers Boots & Brews & AMoA Christmas Roundup.

JAMIE WILLIAMS
Jamie Williams is an Amarillo transplant, formally from San Antonio. She and her husband Jake have two wonderful little boys, Luke and Bennett. Both of their boys were born prematurely and spent a combined 5 months in the NICU. She was able to witness first-hand the great impact the March of Dimes has on improving the quality of life in babies. Her hope is that one day no parents will have to face a premature delivery and that is why she is dedicated to help raise awareness and support for the March of Dimes and their mission.
