You won’t want to miss this year’s 28th Annual Signature Chefs Auction with exciting auction packages to support Healthy Moms, Strong Babies across Iowa.
Signature Chefs Auction pays tribute to the culinary excellence of local chefs from the Iowa City area, while raising funds to help in the fight against preventable maternal risk and death, preterm birth and infant mortality. Local chefs present their signature dishes in tasting-size portions during a cocktail reception. A Live Auction follows with packages that include unique dining experiences with the Signature Chefs themselves! It is an evening of fabulous food and great company!
Moms and babies need you now more than ever.
Data shows that the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations in the world for childbirth. Over 700 women die each year from pregnancy related causes, and the CDC reports that 60 percent are preventable. The preterm birth rate is on the rise. Two babies die every hour in the United States. By joining our Signature Chefs community you are making a big difference!
Your support of March of Dimes helps fund:
- Free NICU programs for families
- Meals and hygiene kits for families and staff
- Prenatal programs for moms-to-be
- Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
- Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
- Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs

Thanks to our 2022 Signature Chef Chair Becky Schmooke, owner of Becky's Mindful Kitchen in Solon, IA. Becky uses her passionate voice as a leadership coach, teacher and mentor to speak to businesses and students across the nation. We feel lucky to have such an engaging leader as Chair of our 2022 Signature Chef Auction in Iowa City.
Along with our of Chair, our Executive Leadership team is led by past event Chairs, Ambassador Families, March of Dimes Board of Director Members and other community leaders fighting for moms and babies in Eastern Iowa. We are so thankful for their leadership and dedication to our 2022 event.

Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide, and 1 million die before their first birthday. Your gift helps the March of Dimes fund research, education, advocacy and programs that help more moms have full term pregnancies and healthy babies.

We were honored to serve as the 2022 Iowa City Signature Chefs Auction Ambassador Family. Together, with the March of Dimes, we work to not only reduce preterm birth rates, but to advance resources and influence policies that improve the health of all moms and babies. We are here in honor of our son, Nile born too soon at 32 weeks in 2017. Nile spent 51 days in the NICU as a preemie with several additional health concerns. Over many surgeries and procedures across his 5 years, Nile is an active Kindergartner and great big brother to his sister, Stella.
