In April 2024, the Tax Family joyfully discovered they were expecting twins. However, their joyous journey soon took an unexpected and heart-wrenching turn. At just 19 weeks, they learned that Baby A’s water had broken, marking the start of a delicate and uncertain path forward as the viability threshold was still weeks away.
Despite weeks of bedrest and vigilant monitoring, labor began unexpectedly at 23 weeks and 4 days. On August 10, 2024, twins Asher Beckham and Chloé Brielle were delivered via emergency C-section and immediately admitted to the NICU. Both babies were critically premature, and Asher’s lungs were severely affected due to the early loss of fluid. After seven days of battling bravely, Asher was taken off of life support, held by his parents and surrounded by family.
Chloé’s journey was equally challenging. In her first months of life, she underwent several major surgeries and interventions to support her heart, eyes, and lungs before she could go home. After 118 days in the NICU, she was discharged with oxygen support and a complex care plan involving multiple specialists. Today, Chloé continues to receive therapies and ongoing medical care, but she is healthy and thriving.
The Tax Family’s story is one of loss, resilience, and profound gratitude for the healthcare teams who stood by their side.
As the 2025 Ambassador Family, they share their journey to honor their son Asher, celebrate their daughter Chloé’s strength, and highlight the urgent need for continued investment in maternal and infant health. They stand with the March of Dimes to help ensure that every family has access to the care, research, and hope they need, especially in life’s most fragile moments.
