All March of Dimes Signature Chefs events will be held virtually this year. While we may not be together in person, we rely on your continued support to provide innovative programs and services for moms, moms-to-be and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving proper or equitable care.

The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

This year the March of Dimes is honoring the nursing profession and the tireless efforts of those dedicated to their patients. On October 6th, 2019 at the Paddocks in Del Mar, our Signature Chefs Gala will highlight the nursing profession, and recognize the recipient of the Compassionate Care Nurse Award.

Join us for the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Gala, to benefit the March of Dimes mission fight to support the health of all moms and babies.  The evening begins with a tasting ensemble of the San Diego's most desirable cuisine, prepared and served by culinary masters from top local restaurants. This extraordinary tasting ensemble gives way to a seated program and live auction, offering an opportunity to bid on unique experience packages.

EVENT CHAIR

We are honored to welcome Crystal Sargent of Invested Advisors as our Signature Chefs Gala Chair for the second year in a row.

“I am excited to Chair the 2019 March of Dimes Signature Chefs gala. We are marching towards improving health outcomes for premature babies and delivering moms. My hope is that by participating today, we’re able to help the March of Dimes expand critical research and services that support the entire miracle of life cycle – from pre-conception to birth and aftercare. That way, more women and men improve the chances of having healthy babies – and we play a role in furthering life for more babies and joy for more families.”

Crystal Sargent is a high performing executive with global expertise building brands and businesses and leading corporate marketing and sales teams that enhance shareholder value through the intersection of brand, culture, strategy, MarComm + MarTech.Crystal is a sought-after speaker on business, entrepreneurship and strategic marketing, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, Roskilde University outside of Copenhagen, Denmark, and the San Diego Police Department. She has been recognized for her contributions to the business and civic life of San Diego with Women Who Mean Business, Tribute to Women in Business and Women Who Impact San Diego honoree. Sargent holds a Master of Science degree in Marketing Communications from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Prior to founding Invested Advisors in 2016, Sargent spent a 23 year career in leadership positions for commercial and private banks, advancing the goals of wealthy families, business owners, corporate executives, underserved communities and non-profit organizations.

March of Dimes believes that every baby deserves the best possible start.  Unfortunately, not all babies get one.  We are changing that. From advocacy to education to research to direct support in the community, we're working to level the playing field so all moms and babies are healthy.  We believe that when a society supports every family, the future is brighter for us all-- and when communities come together, even the toughest problems can be solved.

Premature birth is one of the most significant health threats to moms and babies today -- the leading cause of death amongst newborns, and the leading cause of lasting childhood disabilities.  In California, March of Dimes is currently funding 8 active research grants totaling more than $3 million, and is committed to finding the cause and prevention of preterm birth.

March of Dimes is also fighting for initiatives to increase access to care for all, and to address the devastating disparities in health outcomes for women and children of color.

"The March of Dimes has been a very important organization for my family and me. The March of Dimes has personally helped my cousin with his daughter, Spencer, who was born at just 24 weeks and helped her get to be the rambunctious six year old she is today. I was also born premature. I was born at 4lbs 5oz. in the Philippines, and was three weeks early. The March of Dimes has been helping globally for years. They help doctors in developing countries to understand and support healthcare professionals. They act as an advisory medium for mothers who may not have the knowledge nor resources for their infants. The most important function of the March of Dimes is to help to insure the health of all moms and babies.
