The Mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. As the leading volunteer health organization dedicated to saving babies our goal is to help all women have healthier babies.
Premature birth is the leading killer of newborns and a major cause of long-term health problems. No one knows what causes half of all premature births, but scientific research is closing the gap. With your support we can work toward the day when every baby has a healthy start in life. No baby should begin life fighting to keep it.
Our Story: When we found out that we were expecting quadruplets, it was quite a surprise. However, we knew that God had specifically chosen us for the job and we embraced it. We had a very healthy and uneventful pregnancy, carrying until 29 weeks, 2 days. Our goal was 32 weeks, but the babies had other plans! Michelle’s water broke at 5:55am on Friday, June 8, 2018.
We immediately headed to Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, where we planned to deliver. Being this was our first pregnancy, we were unsure of how quickly the babies would arrive, but we chose to make the one hour and 15 minute drive with the hopes that her labor wouldn’t progress faster than that. Well, we arrived just in time.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Michelle was 8 - 9 centimeters dilated and contractions were roughly 2 minutes apart. She was rushed into an emergency c-section where the babies were safely delivered within 3 minutes of each other.
Help us fund the mission and the campaign to end prematurity!
