FUND THE MISSION
Now more than ever, we must continue to fight for the health of moms, babies and their families. We invite you to consider making a meaningful investment in March of Dimes through a 100 percent tax-deductible gift to Fund The Mission. This gift will empower us to further level the playing field and create equitable health for every mom and every baby.
From Polio to prematurity, the March of Dimes has been working to save babies for over 80 years. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. In Kentucky, the preterm birth rate among black women is 30% higher than the rate among all other women. The March of Dimes is working hard to change these outcomes which is why we need your help more than ever.

MEET THE TAYLOR FAMILY
Cheyenne and Cameron Taylor had three NICU journeys. March of Dimes is honored to share their story with our guests on November 11, 2021 at the Louisville Signature Chefs Auction.
Cameron and Cheyenne welcomed their first born, Colette, at 23 weeks and 5 days. She was no bigger than a $5 dollar bill. After 4 days in the NICU, Colette passed away due to a collapsed lung. As time passed, they worked with 2 doctors to ensure another pregnancy would be safe for Cheyenne and any future children. After getting the ok from their doctors, Cameron and Cheyenne became pregnant again.
Another girl was on the way and they closely monitored Cheyenne's pregnancy. But at 24 weeks and 3 days, Caden made her appearance in the world. Her stay in the NICU lasted 93 days and included surgery in both eyes to prevent future blindness, a PIC line, countless IVs, x-rays, and blood transfusions. Caden was also a part of the NEC Study that March of Dimes was involved in to determine why and how preterm babies developed NEC (Necrotizing enterocolitis). Caden finally made her way home after her stay in the NICU and she is now a healthy, thriving 9 year old.
With the support from both of Cheyenne’s doctors, they were expecting their third child, a little boy. Extra precaution was taken early on in Cheyenne’s pregnancy to help prevent early labor. At her 30 week checkup, Cheyenne’s blood pressure and blood sugar were high and her baby had not grown since her last appointment. After an ultrasound, her doctor decided that an emergency C-section was in the best interest for her and her baby. At 30 weeks and 3 days, Carson was born at 2.6 lbs, a whopping 1 pound more than Colette and Caden. Although COVID made their NICU stay hard, Carson’s journey had been the smoothest of the three and he spent a total of 54 days in the NICU.
The March of Dimes has had an impact on the Taylor Family in many ways throughout their NICU journeys including outreach and support, Caden being a part of the NEC study, and the family receiving keepsake gifts. “It’s unbelievable what can be done through this organization to help so many babies on a daily basis. We are grateful to this wonderful organization and the outreach we received during our journeys.”
