The chefs, volunteers and guests who make up our Signature Chefs Events community are coming together in new, innovative ways to suport moms and babies this year.

We are following state mandated guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will not have an in-person event this year. So, we are preparing an exciting, new Virtual Gala for your 2020 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction experience!

We need your help now more than ever. Your support funds:

  • COVID-19 interventions and support for moms and babies
  • Programs that promote health equity for moms and babies and directly combat racial disparities in maternal and child health
  • Free virtual NICU support program for families
  • Virtual prenatal programs for moms-to-be
  • Educational programs, including live Facebook panel discussions, to get info into the hands of moms and families
  • Necessary supplies for expectant mothers including blood pressure cuffs and masks and so much more!

MEET OUR EVENT CHAIR JASMINE CROWE-HOUSTON

Jasmine is an award-winning social entrepreneur, children’s book author, and determined leader working to make the world a better place. In 2017, after years of feeding people experiencing homelessness from her own kitchen, Jasmine launched Goodr, a sustainable waste management company that leverages technology to combat hunger and reduce food waste. She has been featured on CNBC, Oprah Magazine, Forbes, Fast Co., New York Times, and named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the top 100 influential female founders and Insider’s 100 People Transforming Business. 

 

MEET OUR LEAD CHEF JERNARD WELLS

 Step into the captivating realm of Jernard Wells, an accomplished TV Host, Celebrity Chef, and Bestselling Cookbook Author, whose culinary artistry graces screens and palates alike. Hosting "New Soul Kitchen" & "New Soul Kitchen Remix" on CLEO TV and leaving an indelible mark on shows across Food Network & Cooking Channel, Wells' influence is undeniable. Beyond his culinary achievements, his collaborations with luminaries like Tyler Perry and NBA All-Star Brandon Ingram have been celebrated on prestigious platforms including "Today Show," “Good Morning America,” PEOPLE, and ESSENCE. Fondly referred to as "The Family Chef," his creations not only satisfy appetites but also inspire positive family connections. 

 
We are honored to have Anchors FOX 5 News Christine Sperow and Allen Devlin Atlanta First News (ANF) as our 2023 Emcee’s 



Christine joined Fox 5 News in March 2020. She anchors FOX 5 News at 4p and co-anchors FOX 5 News Edge at 11 with anchor Tom Haynes. Christine comes to Atlanta after spending 11 years as morning anchor at WBTV in Charlotte, NC. While there she won numerous Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards, RTDNAC Awards and NABJ Awards. Christine takes pride in keeping the public informed with accurate information about what’s going on in their community. Being rooted in the community she lives in is also important. While in Charlotte, Christine led the station’s campaign for seven years raising millions of dollars for children fighting pediatric cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

 


Allen Devlin is an Anchor for Atlanta News First, anchoring the 3:30 p.m.,
5 p.m. and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts on Atlanta News First and our sister station Peachtree TV. Allen joined the Atlanta News First News Team in July of 2021 as a Breaking News Anchor and General Assignment Reporter. Allen is a 3-time Emmy-nominated Anchor/Reporter, a 2-time South Carolina Broadcasters Association Award Winner, and a 2-Time RTDNAC Award Winner. Before joining Atlanta News First, Allen was a General Assignment Reporter for WYFF News 4, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, South Carolina, where he worked for two years.

FUND THE MISSION

March of Dimes believes that every baby deserves the best possible start. Unfortunately, not all babies get one, from advocacy to education to research, we are working to level the playing field so that all moms and babies are healthy. Because when a society supports every family, the future is brighter for us all. And when communities come together, even the toughest problems can be solved. We’re taking on one of the toughest problems facing moms and babies today—premature birth. In this country 1 in 10 babies is born prematurely each year. And while the U.S. preterm birth rate is high, women of color have an up to 50 percent higher rate of preterm birth than white women and their children can face a 130 percent higher infant death rate.

Here's what March of Dimes is doing to fight the biggest health threats to moms and babies:
  • We’re advocating at the federal and state levels for funding and legislation that put the health priorities of moms and babies first.
  • We’re working with the medical community to improve the health care women receive. 
  • We’re funding research at our six Prematurity Research Centers (PRC), including our recently established European PRC at Imperial College London, to create innovative collaborations that will accelerate improvements to the health of moms and babies for generations to come.
  • We’re providing families with resources and programs as well as educating moms before, during and after pregnancy to ensure that families have the best possible start.
